Last Friday and Saturday our church put on an "Economics Conference." About 170 families (800 people) came from about 25 states and as far as England and Canada to be encouraged and see things from a Biblical point of view.
Our family was commisioned to put together some gift baskets for the speakers. I think we made 10 small and 2 large. It was a nice project to have. I think they turned out pretty well!
This is a small:
We're trying to brainstorm how we could have a business with these... They might make a nice online business but the problem is that they wouldn't ship well... think...
The weekend was pretty busy for us even though our family didn't attend the conference (yay for mp3 recordings).
Allen was an usher at the event. He and Jared A. had to learn to tie a tie for the occasion! haha =) (Allen, why do you make it so fun to tease you?) The ushers helped seat everyone, make sure things went smoothly, and acted as bouncers when rooms for certain speakers got to full. Some of the boys had to turn away their own mothers...
Andrea ran our caramel apple and chocolate table both days. I helped run a speaker's table the first day, and then helped Andrea the next. We had many little, willing helpers (who wouldn't work for chocolate?) who learned quickly and did a great job explaining products and filling orders. We also had a ton of MOOCHERS- I won't name any names, REED. =)
We hosted a pizza/macoroni and cheese/blueberry muffin party here Saturday night. (We also made lettuce salad and fruit salad and served caramel apples for dessert... yum.) I think we had about 60+ people over. It was great getting to know new people and fellowshipping with old friends as well!
:) haha and you had wanna be moochers ;) lol we wont name any names though! lol
